The route uses existing Rights of Way and individual landowners are largely legally responsible for ensuring the route is unobstructed and any gates and stiles are kept in good repair. The Highway Authorities are responsible for maintaining public rights of way surfaces, signage, and protecting the rights of the public. These bodies take on the role of monitoring and waymarking the route and will work with landowners to support them in their legal duties.
